Following the recent fire at the BMTF station, the BBMP is facing the wrath of members of India Against Corruption (IAC)

Following the recent fire at the BMTF station, the BBMP is facing the wrath of members of India Against Corruption (IAC).

The group surrounded the BBMP Executive Engineer (EE) yesterday afternoon, demanding safety for all files related to the palike's projects, lest they be destroyed in another alleged 'staged' fire. They also demanded that files of major projects in the city be digitalized.

"We are demanding that the files be available to the common man, in case one applies to observe the progress of a particular project through RTI," said Panni Sai, member, IAC.

"We are also here to question the palike about deadlines set for projects. We had placed multiple RTIs for progress reports of these unfinished projects, but have not got any convincing replies," added Nitin Jagtap, member, IAC

Citing the fire that broke out recently, which reportedly gutted many scam related files, the members voiced concerns that other files could meet the same fate.

"We are demanding the safety of files related to Kadernahalli, CNR Rao Circle and Tagore Circle, which are pending. These projects are worth Rs 100 crore and we want to know details of all financial transactions and the deadlines," added Sai.

BBMP EE reacted and said, "We have seen the slow progress in the underpass and major road works projects. BBMP had earlier pulled up contractors for the delay. We have received complaints of suspected misappropriation, hence we will now digitalize all files and copies will be made available to the public under RTI."
