The students of Zilla Parishad School in Parandwadi village of Maval Taluka are in for a remarkable day, as district collector Vikas Deshmukh is going to teach them the use of verbs, nouns, and even poems in English, for an hour. The initiative has been taken by the divisional commissionerate, under which all class I and II officers of district revenue department and Zilla Parishad will teach the ZP school students on the second Thursday of every month.
"This is part of a bid to check the educational and mid-day meal quality in ZP schools of the area," said divisional commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh. The Pune division includes the five districts of Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur and Kolhapur. Deshmukh added that the programme is being implemented from today (October 10) itself, and more than one thousand class I and II officers would be going to various ZP schools of the respective districts to teach students.
"Apart from teaching, the officers would also have the mid-day meal with the students and would conduct meetings with kids and their parents. Thus, they would spend an entire day at the schools," said Deshmukh.
The divisional commissioner added that the motive behind holding such activity was not to interfere in the daily functioning of the school, but try to ascertain the problems faced by the students and their parents living in the rural parts of the districts, and to spread positive feelings about education among them.
The activity would be continued for the next three months, under which more than 13,000 ZP schools across the division would be covered. This month, about 3,000 class I and II officers would participate in the initiative, of whom more than 1,000 are from Pune district.
Meanwhile, apart from district collector Vikas Deshmukh, divisional commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh would teach students of ZP school in Urse village of Maval Taluka today. ZP CEO Anil Kawade has chosen to teach History to the kids at Gahunje village.
