A 25-year-old Delhi police constable on traffic duty was wounded when he sustained a gunshot injury yesterday.
He was fired upon by assailants in a grey Maruti car late on Sunday night in southwest Delhi's Dwarka. According to police, the incident took place at around 10.15 pm near the ganda naala at Dwarka Mod and the injured constable has been identified as Lallu Ram Meena.
u00a0A senior police officer said Meena and another constable Sunil Kumar were checking vehicles when they spotted four youths in a car and signalled them to stop.
"They were asked to show documents of the vehicle. But instead of doing that one of them fired at the policemen with a country-made pistol and fled. Meena was hit on the shoulder. He is in hospital where he is undergoing treatment. His condition was stated to be stable," said a senior officer.
