Consultancy firm cheats doctor of Rs 25 lakh

An Indian-born Malaysian doctor was cheated of Rs 25 lakh by an educational consultancy which had promised him an MD seat. He also lost two years in the process.


An Indian-born Malaysian doctor was cheated of Rs 25 lakh by an educational consultancy which had promised him an MD seat. He also lost two years in the process.

Dr Sheikh Farid has filed a complaint with Banaswadi police on Wednesday. He said that he completed his MBBS in Chennai, and came to the city to pursue higher studies. A friend introduced him to Devine Educational Trust in Banaswadi which promised to him a seat in radio diagnosis at JJM Medical College, Davanagere.

The trust took Rs 25 lakh from Dr Farid in 2007 and issued a receipt. However when Farid approached the trust for the required documents, they told him no seats were available, but promisedu00a0 one the next year. The following year too they told him the same thing.u00a0 When Dr Farid went to JJM College to verify, he found that neither the donation nor the fee had been paid. When he called up the trust, the mobile phone was switched off and the office locked.

The Banaswadi police are investigating the case.
