Two criminals escaped with a constable after returning from a court hearing in Agra Police taking criminals in custody is imaginable but running away with them is unheard of.
The Noida police on Tuesday took two criminals on transit remand for a court case in Agra but the two managed to escape along with one of the constable.
The accused Salli and Sahun are from Mathura and Haryana respectively. They were wanted criminals in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana in 30 cases of robbery and loot. Three constables escorted them for a court hearing in Agra. While heading back to Delhi in the evening, they stopped at a restaurant on the highway.
But instead of having food, the criminals gave a slip to the two constables escorting them and entered the Bolero car where the third constable was sitting inside. They zoomed of the car by taking along the constable, said police.
The constable was identified as Gavendra and is still untraceable. "Investigation is on and meanwhile the three constables are suspended," said a senior police officer.
The duo were arrested on December 7, 2010 from Mewat, from where Noida police took both of them on police remand and were jailed in Sector 39 police station of Noida.
