Cop's son may soon play for RCB

A Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) constable's 15-year-old son has hit two jackpots. He is set to play for the Ranji team and has been reserved as a contender by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

T Pradeep was a student in Reddy Jana Sangha school, close to the cricket academy set up by former India Under-19 player Imtiyaz Ahmed, and never even dreamt of playing cricket on such a big platform.


Impressed by Pradeep's batting skills, Ahmed took charge of him and put him in Florence school on a two-year scholarship

Ahmed once visited the school as the Chief Guest where he observed Pradeep hitting every delivery to the boundary. He took charge of the boy and put him in Florence school in R T Nagar on a two year scholarship.

Besides, he continued to hone his cricketing skills during various club matches.

"We moved to the city when my father got a transfer.

Despite the odds, my parents encouraged me, while my coach turned me into a cricketer," said Pradeep, who has been named in the Under-16 Karnataka State Cricket Squad, "He will open the bowling for Bangalore Under-16 and bat at number seven.

While he is already a reserved contender for the RCB, his chances of making it to Team India are strong," Ahmed said.
