After police top brass hint at action against Special IGP Suresh Khopde following penning of book, he slams 'IPS lobby', says casteist senior officers suppressing voice of promotees
Special Inspector General of Police Suresh Khopde has made some scathing remark on the "IPS lobby", alleging that officers like Additional Director General of Police Satyapal Singh are "Manuwadi" (casteist) and that they are victims of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who keep on threatening departmental action for writing against the faulty bureaucratic and social system.

Khopde has landed in trouble after his book in Marathi titled Mumbai jalali, Bhivandi ka nahi? (Mumbai burned, but why didn't Bhivandi?) was published. In the book, senior IPS officers are criticised for not implementing police reforms. Khopde is due to retire from police service at the end of this month.

Director General of Police Ajit Parasnis has hinted at departmental action against the high-ranking officer who is known to be quite vocal. Despite repeated attempts to contact Singh and Parasnis, the two could not be reached for comment. Khopde claims that his book is "scientific and literary" in nature, whichu00a0 does not require government permission for publishing, and so no action can be taken against him.
