The police have arrested Fakir Das Madraliana Mannawat (22), and Ransingh Gurudawat (23) at Indrayani Nagar, Bhosari, and have booked them under 392 of IPC. The arrests were made after Monani Robin De (30) lodged a complaint that her gold chain and mobile were snatched.u00a0
In January this year, six cases of robbery have already been registered.
Additional CP, crime Branch A D Shinde attributes this category of criminal offence to recession and unemployment. "Such cases are rampant in the suburban areas," he said.
In 2009, a total of 511 extortion cases were registered, out of which, only 378 cases were solved.
