The Yerwada police have found four people who saw techie Nayna Pathak Pujari in the car in Khed, the rural area where her body was eventually found on October 8. The four witnesses are said to stay nearby.
"I cannot reveal much right now because I don't want to scare the witnesses away. They might tell us something crucial about the night of the incident. Some of them saw Pujari in the car around the rural areas of the city. We have managed to identify the people and are waiting for their version," said investigating officer Vishwanath Ghanwat from Yerwada police station.
The identities of these witnesses will be revealed in the next three days.
Help the police
The police have also appealed to the unidentified person who had travelled with Pathak in the car till Magarpatta city to come forward and provide information. That person had also taken a lift from the four people who have been suspected of raping and killing Pujari. But so far no one has come forward.
The police have arrested three suspects, including a cab driver and a security guard, so far. They have been identified as Yogesh Raut (20), Mahesh Thakur (24), and Raju Chaudhary (23).
The fourth suspect, Vishwas Kadam, has not been nabbed. The police have checked Kadam's residence, work place and hangouts, but he's still untraceable. Search teams have also been sent to Satara, Kadam's native place.
Jalinder Superkar, DCP, Zone IV, said investigations will take some time.
