Victim's father alleges his daughter was attacked by four bikers while police have closed the case after arresting one

The father of a 19-year-old girl, who was attacked by a group of bikers, has alleged that police forced his daughter to change her statement in the FIR. Deepika Sawariya, the victim, had come to Sarojini Nagar market for shopping when the four assailants tried to drag her onto a bike.

Her father and sister, who had accompanied her, rushed to the girl's rescue and raised an alarm so that one biker was caught. They handed over the assailant to the police. They alleged that though the police lodged a case, their statement was changed.

"Deepika Sawariya, who is pursuing an O level computer course, was attacked by four persons who dragged her, grabbing her hand. She was along with her father and sister who saved her. Three miscreants managed to escape while they caught one and handed him over to the police. According to the victim's family they were all on bikes," said a police officer who did not wish to be named.

Sarojini Nagar police identified the nabbed assailant as Shailender and booked him under charges of molestation and eve-teasing.

Prem Singh, the father of the victim, alleged that though his daughter was attacked by four people, the police are trying to show that only one person was involved in the matter and don't want to pursue the assailants who are on the run.
