Noida police undergoing training to learn etiquettes, polish their language skills ahead of Games
First impression is usually the last. So when the Capital is all set to host Commonwealth Games 2010, the Noida police is in no mood to take chances.

The pot-bellied cops are already sweating it out in the gym to look presentable and are taking lessons in improving their lingua franca. Also, in a first-ever initiative by the police, the inspectors and constables will be given visiting cards to help the common man in time of need.
"The Noida police are undergoing special language and etiquette training at the police lines, keeping the upcoming Commonwealth Games in mind. They are not only being trained in English fluency, but much attention is also being paid to their physical appearance. That is the reason we have opened a gym, dedicated to the cops," said DSP Shailendra Lal.
"The constables and inspectors are the people who generally interact with the people. We have decided to give them visiting cards that will have call details of all the cops along with the police station's control room number. This will help people contact the police in no time," explained Lal. The police have also made stickers comprising PCR numbers and these'll be pasted behind buses and cars, so that the public can easily contact the police. "This will reduce the response time and many more cases can be solved," added Lal.
For better efficiency, the constables will be provided leopard carbon bikes and will have to report daily at their respective police stations about the cases overseen by them. "Also, they'll be taught to operate computers and latest gadgets," said Lal.
Breaking the norm
The Greater Noida authority had launched an MMS/SMS service to regulate traffic in town and make registration of traffic violations easy. The unique selling point of the service is that even if a traffic cop is not present at a junction, a common person can record a traffic violation over his phone and send the MMS to the helpline number or else he can report it through a text SMS on the number 9999977100. The Greater Noida police have got 20 hi-tech Bolero cars, which will operate like PCR vans.
