Uday Shankar, leader of opposition in the BBMP council, is being investigated by the Lokayukta on charges of attempting to take over a piece of land on the pretext of building an anganwadi, which already exists.

The property is currently worth over Rs 1 crore and it has caught Shankar's eye. He claims that he will build an Anganwadi, despite one already existing there," Pasha told this reporter.
Pasha said he was under tremendous pressure from various officials of BBMP and the Slum Board to dispose of his property to Shankar.
However, refuting the allegation, Shankar said, "It is all false. Someone called Chotu Saab had acquired the land belonging, which belongs to the slum board.
