The accused identified as Keshav Pradeep (41), Raghavendra (30), and Narasimhamurthy (40), are associates of Kali Yogesh and Harish Tolar, who execute Pujari's orders in the city.

The gang gathered information on the businessman and passed it on to Pujari, who in turn telephoned the victim demanding ransom. The victim fearing for his life approached the police, following which the accused who trailed the businessman informed Pujary about the complaint.

Enraged by this, the don ordered his men to kidnap the businessman and kill him after collecting the ransom from his family. However, the plan was foiled when the CCB team working on a tip off, swung into action and nabbed the accused while they were waiting to kidnap the businessman.

During the raid, two criminals identified as Kumar and Dhruva managed to escape. "Efforts are on to nab the accused who managed to escape during the operation," said ACP B N Nyame Gowda.
