ICICI Bank agrees to provide duplicate set of documents to property mortgaged to them after MiD DAY highlights customer's complaint

Less than a week after MiD DAY highlighted city businessman N Nagesh's complaint against ICICI, the bank has promised to resolve the issue by arranging a duplicate set of original documents made.

Nagesh, it may be recalled had deposited apartment papers worth Rs 45 lakh at the ICICI Bank's Koramangala branch as collateral security to procure a home loan of Rs 22 lakh that were subsequently misplaced by the bank.

Nagesh had filed a complaint against the bank with the Koramangala police

Nagesh then filed a complaint with the Koramangala police and accused ICICI bank of criminal breach of trust.

After Nagesh's case was highlighted in a report published by MiD DAY on April 26, ICICI officials assured Nagesh that they would arrange for a duplicate set of documents but did not take any action.

Simmy Sebastian, manager, service quality, assured Nagesh that he would try to trace the documents.

"All I request you is to treat this incident as unfortunate and an aberration," Sebastian reportedly told Nagesh.

"The bank can only assist him in procuring the documents that have legal validity so that his business is not affected," Sebastian added.
