He was short on attendance, was scared to tell parents
A first-year student of Delhi University's Dyal Singh College allegedly tried to stage his own kidnapping after he came to know that due to his short attendance, he will not be able to appear for the exams. His parents even lodged a missing complaint, only to be told of their son's vagabond ways.

A senior police officer said no FIR has been lodged in this respect as yet. The accused has been identified as Saurabh, a Madhu Vihar resident. "Deepak, Saurabh's father, filed a missing complaint with Lodhi Colony police in this respect. According to him, Saurabh went missing from college. During the investigation, police found him in Amritsar," said a police officer.
Police said Saurabh was not kidnapped but had fled to Amritsar on his own. "The college authorities told us that the accused and a friend had not been attending classes regularly. They were told that they could not appear for the exam. Saurabh got scared that his parents would scold him and so he staged his own kidnapping," said a police officer.
