He wanted four days to execute power of attorney in favour of his mother
Brushing aside Vikas Yadav's four-day leave plea, Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted him custodial parole for a day to execute general power of attorney in favour of his mother. Yadav is undergoing life imprisonment in the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case.

A bench of justices S Ravindra Bhat and Pratibha Rani asked Yadav's lawyer to inform the jail authorities as well as the public prosecutor about the date on which he intends to execute the document. "Yadav is permitted to be released in custody parole for a day. The jail superintendent is directed to ensure that the applicant returns to jail the same day after executing the document," said Bhat.
A day's work
Opposing Yadav's plea for four-day parole, public prosecutor Dayan Krishnan said the convict has failed to make it clear why he needed four days to execute a single document. "It can be done in a day," he said. Yadav's counsel Vikas Pahwa had said his client needed to complete power of attorney formalities at Ghaziabad, and if for any reason the formalities could not be completed the same day, he would require more time.
Earlier on November 9, Nitish's mother Neelam Katara, said, "Vikas and Vishal Yadav always seek this kind of relief by filing such applications. I have a document that reveals that Yadav brothers have been finding an easy getaway in hospitals. Vikas and Vishal Yadav made 66 hospital visits from February 2010 to date."
Property mantra
The document could be executed in Delhi itself as he has properties here, she said, adding he should not be allowed to do his work in Ghaziabad. Yadav, in his bail petition, claimed his personal presence was required for preparation and execution of GPA appointing his mother as the lawful attorney to manage and control the property purchased jointly by him and his mother.
