The mother, Aparna Pokharkar (27), had given birth at 5 am, and was resting when the incident occurred.u00a0
Aparna's father Kisan Ganpat Wable, who was visiting his daughter with his wife, said, "My wife and I were sitting with our daughter, but around 12.30 pm, I went to buy medicines and my wife went to get some food. Aparna was resting on her bed with her baby beside her in the cradle. I was told a lady came and took off with the baby during the time we stepped out."

Aparna's father then lodged a complaint at Pimpri police station. M A Vidhate, police inspector at Pimpri police station, said, "We have got a good image of the lady and our team is searching her. We are asking rickshaw drivers and commuters at bus stops to get clues. We are also questioning family members too."
According to Aparna's husband, she was shifted to YCM hospital on Sunday night from a hospital in Manchar. Meanwhile, hospital authorities have pinned the blame on the lady security guard who left the ward for lunch before the arrival of her reliever.
"The lady security in-charge was supposed to stay put till 1 pm, but she left the ward before another guard arrived. And the incident occurred during this period. We are going to suspend that security guard for negligence," said Anand Jagdale, YCM hospital superintendent.u00a0
