Grief transmuted into fury as relatives of a deceased, Sachin Shankar Ambule (23), stomped about wrecking hospital property.
The glass panes of the doors of the security room were shattered by the belligerent crowd
Ambule's relatives damaged furniture and equipment inside the hospital premises and also destroyed the CCTV cameras.
The Bhosari police said Ambule was admitted for treatment of malaria and died during the process. Because the security cameras were damaged, the police will have to rely on eyewitnesses to get information on who was involved, they said.
Subhash Rajule, medical superintendent of Nirmaya Hospital, said, "We do not want to comment. We have shared whatever information we have with the police."
Investigating officer, T D Gaud, said eight people have been charged for creating a ruckus at Nirmaya Hospital. No one has been arrested so far. The mob did not attack any staff members," he said.
