Six workers were injured Monday during relief operations at the Delhi Metro construction site in south Delhi where a section of the elevated track had collapsed Sunday, killing six people.

The six workers were injured when the steel "launching girder" that holds up the elevated viaduct also came crashing down during relief operations. They were rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Centre, hospital officials said.

The reinforced concrete viaduct that collapsed Sunday due to cracks in one of the supporting pillars carries the rail tracks on which the metro trains will move.
