The fire gutted over a dozen shanties. Most of the people present on the spot believe that it was a short circuit, while others claimed there was no electricity at the time of the incident. "We reached there at around 11:30 pm when the tragic incident had already taken place.

So, we are still not sure about the cause of the fire," a police official said. Eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot that took around three hours to douse the flames, fire department officials said.

The three killed have been identified as Reena (10), Meena (7) and six-month-old Mubarak. Another child, Shakhuddin, was also trapped inside a burning shanty. He is now hospitalised with 60 per cent burn injuries, police said. His father Allah Rakha suffered burn injuries while trying to save the children.
