Movies from across the world are being served on your seat this week in the capital
LA CELESTINA
A young nobleman, Calisto, falls in love with Melibea, the daughter of a rich merchant. Calisto's servant Sempronio suggests they get the sorceress Celestina to further the romance. However, Parmeno, another servant, is suspicious of Celestina as he is aware of her tricks. After Celestina convinces Melibea about Calisto's love and arranges a brief clandestine meeting, Calisto gives Celestina a valuable gold chain. Both servants are dissatisfied with the whores supplied by Celestina and demand more from her, thus setting off a dramatic sequence of events. This one hour 11 minute Spanish movie (with English subtitles) is directed by Gerardo Vera and stars Penelope Cruz, Juan Diego and Terele Pavez among others.

UP IN THE AIR
In this 2009 movie directed by Jason Reitman, Academy Award-winner George Clooney plays Ryan Bingham, a corporate downsizing expert whose cherished life on the road is threatened just as he is on the verge of reaching 10 million frequent flyer miles and right after he's met the frequent traveller woman of his dreams.

CHARIOTS OF FIRE
In this 1981 British film, narrated in flashback mode, two young British sprinters compete for fame at the 1924 Olympics. Eric, a devout Scottish missionary, runs to please God. Harold, the son of a nouveau-riche Jew, runs to prove his place in the Cambridge society. In a warm-up 100m race, Eric defeats Harold, who hires a pro trainer to prepare him. Eric, whose qualifying race is scheduled on a Sunday, refuses to run despite pressure from the Olympic committee. A compromise is reached when a nobleman allows Eric to compete in his 400m slot. Eric and Harold win their respective races and go on to achieve fame as a missionary and a businessman/athletic advocate, respectively.

EASHWAR MIME CO.
This film is based on the award-winning short story Mukhabhinaya by Dibyendu Palit and the screenplay is written by Vijay Tendulkar. Chitrarth, a poor and struggling writer, is invited by an enigmatic but mesmerising showman, Eashwar, to join his mime company. His educated and refined sensibilities are both repelled and fascinated by the primal world that opens up in front of him. The film will be introduced by co-producer Mallika Jalan and eminent painter Rameshwar Broota.

The five knights eventually succeed in taking the sheet on which Christ was laid after Crucifixion and hand it over to a member of the French royal family. In the course of events, a totally unexpected destiny awaits them.
