According to sources, state Congress chief Manikrao Thakre has deputed two leaders from Maharashtra in Chennai. However, they were denied access to the ailing leader and his family members.
Finally, in the afternoon, Thakre himself flew down to Chennai to find out about Deshmukh's condition. Sources added that even Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar were ready to leave for Chennai. They had asked for a private plane to be kept ready at the domestic airport. But Chavan got a call from Amit, Deshmukh's elder son, requesting him to cancel the plan.
Speaking to the media, Chavan said Amit informed him that doctors were doing their best to keep his father's health stable. "Nobody is allowed to meet him. I was about to leave for Chennai, but due to his request I am not going," Chavan said. u00a0
