Days after MiD DAY's report ('Its 7,500 vs 1 dhobi over children's park', Apr 23), it appears that the residents of various housing societies on the Juhu-Versova Link Road would be finally getting a children park soon

On April 27, S S Sandhu, divisional commissioner, Konkan Bhavan, dismissed the relief petition filed by Santosh Kanojia, the washerman, and maintained the deputy collector's stand, who had earlier issued orders for demolishing the illegal structure. As per commissioner's order, the district administration demolished the structure on May 3.

"The structure is finally cleared and the park will be ready for the residents very soon," said MLA Ashok Bhau Jadhav.

"The district administration officials along with the police and Tehsildar arrived on May 3 at 3.30 pm to clear the illegal structure. Within a few minutes, the machinery they had brought along cleared the structure. It was worth taking trouble for so many years. My suggestion-cum-request is that people should speak out about their problems. I also want to thank MiD DAY for taking up the issues with the authorities," said Julie Gandhi, a local activist.
