XRBIA Developers claim an exclusive partnership with Disney Entertainment to create an amusement park at their Karjat township
A Pune-based builder has claimed that he is constructing a unique amusement park 17 kms from Karjat, following an exclusive partnership with Disney Entertainment. Disney, however, refutes the claim.
Rahul Nahar, Chairman and Managing Director, XRBIA Developers Ltd, states, "XRBIA Developersâ¦has exclusively partnered with Disney Entertainment to create an adventure park at one of XRBIA's smart cities located at Tadwadi, Karjat.
The park features gardens inspired by different Disney themes like Princess Garden, Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh (sic) among others spread across 60 acres out of the 200 acres dedicated to the entire city.
XRBIA families will soon be able to experience these theme parks at a destination close to them. The project is slated to be launched within the next six to eight months."
The builder showcased his plans for the project to the media a few weeks ago at a conference in Mumbai. Although Disney confirmed that they have tied up with XRBIA, they have clarified that there is no adventure park coming up in India as of now.
The official statement from Disney states: "This claim is incorrect, we at Disney haven't given any license to any party for a Disney amusement or adventure park.
We do have an association with XRBIA for Disney inspired residences - for interiors in a child's room and themes in some common areas. We continually look for opportunities to grow our business in India, but we currently have no plans for a theme park here."
Speaking to us on the matter, a senior official from Disney remains unsure whether the builder has permissions to construct the Alice in Wonderland garden. Also, the deal is with Disney India not Disney Entertainment, points out the official.
We mailed a query to the builder asking for his clarification on why he was promoting the park as a Disney amusement park, but received no response.
