A student doctor from JJ hospital has been reported missing since two days, confirmed the dean of the hospital. The police suspect that the doctor may be in Goa
On Tuesday, hospital authorities reported that Dr Yogesh Phirke (25), a student of first-year diploma in Paediatric Medicine in Grant Medical College, Byculla has gone missing from the hostel premises.u00a0
Sources claimed that Dr Phirke did not return to his hostel since Monday and his mobile phone was also switched off.u00a0

He said, "We are hoping that he would return to the hospital soon. We have registered a âmissing' complaint with JJ Marg police station."u00a0

According to sources, Phirke was quite normal and did not look to be in any kind of anxiety or depression, before he went missing.

However, the police had a different theory to the case. Shashikant Surve, senior police inspector, JJ Marg Police station at Byculla, said, "Rs 10,000 has been withdrawn from his account and the transaction was traced to an ATM in Goa. We suspect that the doctor has taken a vacation to Goa without informing his family or friends. We expect him to return soon."

Fearing that something untoward may have happened to Phirke, his classmates have been visiting all government and BMC run hospitals, in a bid to trace him.

Dr Phirke hails from Jalgaon and his uncle who lives in Mumbai takes care of his medical expenses, including stay and studies.u00a0
