When he was passing by Kalanagar, he saw several cars and motorcycles surrounding a biker, who was lying on the road in a pool of blood.

"I was on my way to conduct an operation when I saw this accident. I stopped to look, and saw that nobody was coming forward to help the man. Initially, he was not moving. Then I saw his leg move. His head was badly injured and his skin had peeled off. I immediately got him in my car with the help of another driver, Shankar Shejwale, who came to assist me," said Dr Goel. Both the doctor and Shejwale rushed the victim, 28-year-old Mahesh Chavan, to Lilavati Hospital.

Shejwale said, "I parked my car under the flyover and accompanied Dr Goel to the hospital. He asked me to hold Chavan's head tightly, which I did." Doctors at the Bandra facility said that the duo arrived in the nick of time. Had they come a few minutes later, the man would've died. Chavan is a resident of Bhoiwada and is a son of a police officer. He works at a private bank in Andheri and is to get married soon.

On Friday morning, Chavan left home for work on his motorcycle. Around 8 am, on the Kalanagar flyover, his vehicle skidded and he rammed into a pole on the bridge. His bike was lying on one side, while he was thrown to the other. The doctor was shocked that none came to help an injured man. He added, "Everyone is busy with work, but one shouldn't forget humanity." The doctor waited till the victim's relatives came to the hospital and also got medicines for the injured man. Fortunately, he also reached the hospital in time for his operation.

Police officials and family members thanked both good Samaritans for their noble act. Chavan's brother Manoj said, "I am very thankful to Dr Goel and Shejwale for saving my brother's life. He has to go through several operations but he is out of danger." Chavan has sustained severe injuries to his head and left shoulder. Doctors said he was in a critical condition but was stable.u00a0
