US President Donald Trump enthralled the audience at Ahmedabad's Motera Stadium in Gujarat with his widely- aired speech, but also left people, both online and offline, in splits with his series of mispronounciations while praising Indian personalities and Bollywood films.
The US President become the topic of social media jokes after he called the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, son of a chiwala instead of chaiwala, gave a reference to the Vedas by calling the scriptures the 'Vestas' and botched the pronounciations of former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and social reformer Swami Vivekananda.
Even as Trump was praised for paying his respects to the Indian film industry, colloquially called as Bollywood, he also mispronounced the cult films 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' (DDLJ) and 'Sholay', which he pronounced as 'Shojay.'

The US President was given a red carpet welcome in Ahmedabad, marking the beginning of his first official visit to India with his First Lady. He addressed the people in Motera Cricket stadium and visited the Sabarmati Ashram after which they flew to Agra and visited the Taj Mahal.
On Tuesday, Trump was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Modi welcomed Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The US president also received a tri-services guard of honour at the presidential palace.
