A 30-year-old woman and her 60-year-old mother-in-law were murdered in Jaitpur area of southwest Delhi late on Tuesday night. Police officials said an FIR of murder has been registered but no one was arrested. The deceased were identified as Shabana and her mother-in-law Tamizan.
"The victims' neighbour Nazim discovered the bodies and called the police. Tamizan had been strangled with a handkerchief. Shabana was lying in a pool of blood on the floor outside her bedroom. Her body bore multiple stab injuries," said a senior police officer.
Shabana's family members have alleged that her husband Iliyas could be the murderer as he constantly harassed her for dowry. Iliyas works as a carpenter in Abu Dhabi, but is currently in Delhi.
