Accused charged with attempt to murder, victim critical
If you are one of those who don't trust the cops, ask yourself how dependable are the private security guards filling the void of insufficient policing in the city.
At around 12.30 am on Monday night, Manish (25), a guard with G4S (a private security agency) was on duty at the under-construction Metro site at Fatehpur Beri in south Delhi.
Two of his colleagues Ramprasad (28) and Raman (30) appeared on the scene allegedly in an inebriated condition. Manish asked them not to enter the area and demanded they show their I-cards. An argument ensued which turned fierce. In a fit of rage Raman opened fire on Manish with his double-barrelled gun.
Manish suffered bullet injuries and was taken to the nearest hospital. His condition is said to be critical. Another guard informed the police and Ramprasad and Raman were taken into custody.u00a0u00a0
"We received a call about firing near the under-construction Metro tracks at Fatehpur Beri. Our team immediately rushed to the spot and we have arrested two guards of G4S and have booked them under charges of attempt to murder. Further investigations are on" said a police officer.
Securing the Metro |
DMRC has plans to enhance security at Metro stations. Five new Metro police stations are being proposed. The locations under consideration are Yamuna Bank, Peeragarhi, IGI Express, Qutub Minar and Lajpat Nagar. |
