A husband set his wife on fire and then himself too at Eejipur limits last night. Neighbours reported that the couple often used to quarrel because of the husband's drinking habits.
N Manjunath (31) had married Amruta (25) five years back. The marriage was on rocky grounds, as Manjunath had a drinking problem.
When Manjunath returned home at 10 pm in a drunk state, he and his wife got into yet another argument.

Frustrated, he poured four litres of kerosene on Amruta and set her ablaze. He then hugged her and set himself on fire too while their daughter Vinuta (5) was asleep.
Neighbours rescueThe neighbours seeing the couple in flames, rushed out to save them.
Muniswamy Gouda, a neighbour, said, "I saw burning bodies and rushed out with water to save them. We then rushed the couple to Victoria Hospital."
Sources at Victoria Hospital told MiD DAY that both were in critical condition, as Amruta's body was burnt 80 per cent and Manjunath's body was burnt 65 per cent.
"The whole incident must have happened because of Manjunath's drinking habits. They have fought on several occasions and I have played peacemaker before," said Rajanna, Amruta's brother.
"I pray that God saves my sister."
