Engineering graduate and his roommate help an accident victim lying in pool of blood
Bhimrao Ukirade lay on the road in pool of blood near Mahindra Colony, Pimpri-Chinchwad on Monday night. If not for engineering graduate Sudarshan Varwade and his roommate Sharan Potdar, Ukirade would have lost his life.u00a0
Monday night, the duo stumbled upon Ukirade injured and unconscious when they were returning after having dinner.
The incident took place at 10.30 pm. Varwade said: "I screamed for help, I appealed others to stop, but everyone just chose to ignore me. An autorickshaw driver finally stopped. After an argument, I convinced him to carry the victim to the hospital."
The duo encountered problems even at D Y Patil hospital when it denied admission to Ukirade. Varwade said, "First we took the victim to the hospital attached to one medical college, but they denied him admission because his relatives were not accompanying him. But, we could see that his condition was deterioratingu00a0 and immediately shifted him to Yashvantrao Chavan Medical Hospital."
As they arrived at the hospital, they informed Bhimrao Ukirade's family. Ukirade's daughter-in-law told MiD-Day that Bhimrao was on his way to meet his wife who is undergoing treatment at D Y Patil Hospital, and the accident must have taken place as he was on his way to the hospital.
She said, "My husband has gone to our native place in Karnataka, and my mother in law is recuperating in the hospital. Now my father-in-law is also unconscious."
