Au00a0new social networking club charges just Rs 4,850 to plan 10 rocking activities you can enjoy in a year, ranging from watchingu00a0 an IPL match live to grooving at an at-sea party
The name of their club may seem random, but their agenda is planned to the T. Alok Mody, 25, and Vidhi Mehra, 24, run Club XYZ, a social networking group that plans 10 rocking activities for you to enjoy in the course of one year. It's perfect for the lazyboned or those of you who work, and have no time to plot an outing. Tired of seeing the same faces week-after-week? "Call us," the two grin.
The arrangement seems a steal with an annual fee of a modest Rs 4,850 per person (all inclusive) for a range of activities that span a night at a discotheque to trekking in the hills. Considering that entry to a hip night club in the city would cost you no less than half a grand, you know you are in for a profit if you do the math.
College buddies Vidhi and Alok found themselves together while pursuing an MBA, and the club was born out of an interest in expanding their social circle. The club has grown from including a few close friends to members from across the city. Working professionals aged 20 to 40 form their core member group.
what to expect: "While there were some activities I was fascinated by, like a wine tasting session, for instance, the final list includes popular stuff most members are likely to get excited about," says Alok. The final list of activities includes a one-day trip, watching a play, enjoying a dinner, a ferry party, an overnight trip, a trip to a water park, watching a movie, clubbing, go-karting/bowling and watching an IPL match live.
All activities are scheduled on Sundaysu00a0 since collegians and urban professionals prefer weekends. Alok and Vidhi personally screen potential members, and the membership fee is inclusive of travel costs, snacks and refreshments. Members can also bring in friends at an additional cost for certain events. No proxies are allowed for any event and the fees are to be paid in cash only.
Their first activity is scheduled for September 13 (a one-day monsoon trip to Sajan Nature Club on the outskirts of Mumbai).
