Ongoing construction work Mahatma Phule Auditorium adjacent to Namdevrao Shivarkar Hospital has caused dust to settled on instruments and is clouding the atmosphere at the operation theatre. Doctors claim that they are unable to handle caesarean section cases here and are forced to refer the cases elsewhere.
A hospital staffer said on condition of anonymity, "The operation room's windows are on the same side as the auditorium. It is difficult to perform deliveries."
Women registered here have to approach Kamala Nehru Hospital, Sassoon Hospital or private hospitals if complications arise.
"It is difficult to tackle the situation if complications arise during delivery," said another staff member.
Hospital in-charge Dr Z E Kamble said, "I am not the right official to speak to on the matter."
