Pawar was speaking at a programmeorganised to felicitate Nationalist Congress Party MLC Adv. Jaidev Gaikwad.u00a0Commenting on the Azad Maidan incident, Pawar also indirectly lashed out at the Home Ministry, saying, "Although every department has its own importance, no one should behave with arrogance." Calling the incident as most unfortunate, Pawar stated that everyone, including the cops, should have been treated with respect on the day of the protest.
Deputy CM also appealed to Opposition parties in the state not to politicise the Azad Maidan incident. Also speaking on the Value Added Tax (VAT) issue wherein builders are collecting VAT from buyers, but failing to deposit it with the state government, Pawar stated that VAT recovery was on hold till August 31.
"The hearing for the VAT issue is scheduled for August 28 in the Supreme Court, and the state government will stick to its stand," said Pawar. He also lashed out at the builder lobby for charging extra VAT from buyers. u00a0
