According to sources, the move might have come following requests from parents and college principals to start a less cumbersome admission system in the city on the lines of Mumbai's junior colleges.u00a0
The board has constituted a 14-member committee -- comprising of principals, government officials and two parent representatives -- to review the process and recommend suggestions to it to counter anomalies in the centralised admission procedure.
Last year, a delegation of principals had approached the education ministry, demanding that at least 50 percent of admission should be conducted through the less time-consuming online process on the lines of Mumbai colleges.u00a0As of now, Fergusson College is the only college to have started the system of online admission in the city.
"We will conduct a meeting with all the principals to discuss the glitches in the existing admission procedure. With just few months left for SSC board examinations, we have little time left. After the board exams, the committee will organise sessions to inform parents and students about the technical aspects of the centralised admission process and related issues," said an official from the department.u00a0
Last year, the state had set up six counseling camps for parents and students to guide them in filling centralised admission forms and other documents.u00a0Earlier, students had submitted their original marks sheets instead of photocopies, leading to confusion.
