Elections 2014: Aaditya Thackeray rubbishes rumours of fielding Shiv Sena candidate against Modi

Shiv Sena's youth face, Aaditya Thackeray clarifies that his party won't contest against alliance partner BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Varanasi 


Mumbai: While there are rumours doing the rounds that Shiv Sena would contest, the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections against, the BJP's Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Varanasi.

The party's youth wing's chief Aadtiya Thackeray clarified on Twitter that there are no party candidates from Lucknow and Varanasi.

Lucknow is the seat contested by BJP chief Rajnath Singh and the Varanasi seat is being contested by Modi. While media is quoting Sanjay Raut behind the news, when we sent a message on the same to Raut, he preferred not to reply.

However, the rumour mill in Maharashtra has started doing the round, that Sena is doing so to teach BJP a lesson, that it cannot mess around with it in Maharashtra, read MNS and BJP leaders meeting Raj Thackeray,

A senior BJP leader said, "This is not first time the Sena is doing this, they have earlier contested some seats against BJP outside Maharashtra and were defeated, the scene would be same this time, if they contest against us outside Maharashtra."

While on the social networking site, it appears that the Sena isn't coordinated, because at one hand, Thackeray tweeted that it won't contest polls in Lucknow and Varanasi, there are many who even tweeted the names of the candidates Ajay Chaubey from Varanasi and Uday Pande from Lucknow as the candidates of Shiv Sena. The news is that Sena would contest some 20 seats, in UP.

Sena has earlier won one seat in UP and had a MLA named Pawan Pandey from Akbarpur constituency close to Ayodhya.
