...He died on the spot, while the passenger was critically wounded. Nearby Metro station and commuters were in grave danger
It was a one in a million occurrence. Unfortunately, for Rajiv Kumar Dhingra, he was right in the middle of it.

Dhingra, an auto driver, from Malkaganj in north Delhi was killed, when two electricity poles collapsed on the Delhi-NOIDA link road, near Mayur Vihar, Phase-I, one of them dropping down, bizarrely, on Dhingra's running auto.
At the time of the incident, Dhingra was plying his vehicle in the direction of NOIDA, with a passenger in tow. The passenger has received serious injuries and has been admitted to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, near Kalyanpuri in east Delhi. He is yet to be identified.
"The poles could have been weakened by the construction and repair work going on in the area, by Metro authorities and civic agencies. However, all of this has to be verified. The auto driver seems to have died of the impact, but we are not ruling out electrocution. His body is yet to be recovered as the auto has been crushed badly under the weight," a senior police officer said.
