The Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the city police arrested an engineering student and recovered five sugar cubes induced with drops of Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and Charas worth Rs 60,000. The arrest was made near Symbiosis College on Airport Road on Tuesday evening after the police received a tip-off.
u00a0According to the police, the accused Ayush Tikku (24) hails from Jammu and Kashmir and resides at Tingrenagar. He was arrested when he was preparing the drugs to prospective customers.
"We got a tip-off that Tikku would be coming in front of Symbiosis College to sell LSD and Charas to prospective customers. Based on the information, we laid a trap and arrested him around 5 pm on Tuesday," said API Vinod Patil of the ANC.
He added that this is the second case involving and arrest and recovery of LSD.u00a0"During sustained interrogation, the accused said he procured the narcotics from one Haria, and was about to sell the drugs to a prospective customer. He was planning to sell each cube laced with LSD between Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500. He said each cube had been laced with one or two drops of LSD," Patil said.
According to the police, Tikku is pursuing computer engineering at a private institute in Erandwane and belongs to well-do-to family.u00a0"During investigations, it has been learnt that one more person is involved in the sale of narcotic substances. However, he is at large and we have intensified a search in the city," Patil said.u00a0Tikku was produced before the court and has beenu00a0remanded in police custody till January 10.u00a0
