Aurangabad: A case has been registered against a head postman and his two juniors here for allegedly siphoning off Rs 16.75 lakh MGNREGA scheme money, police said today.
Station House Officer of Goh police station Mohammad S Haque said that the FIR was registered on complain of Postal Inspector against the head postman, his deputy and an assistant for embezzling Rs 16.75 lakh meant for MGNREGA scheme.
In the complaint it was said that the three withdrew Rs 16.75 lakh for payment under MGNREGA scheme but it was not distributed among beneficiaries and kept by the three instead, the SHO said. The fraudulent withdrawal pertains to the period in between April to October 2014, he added.
