Police said they received a tip-off that the fake currency racket kingpin Raza Ahmad was to deliver to a party near Metro walk gate 6/7, Service Road, Sector-10, Rohini. "Accordingly, a police team was formed and a trap was laid. Gyan came in a car to purchase the fake notes and brought Rs 30,000 for the purpose. Ahmad had come on a black Pulsar. Both were apprehended," said a senior police officer.
"When we checked the forged currency notes, about 29 of them had same serial number, and many others notes had the number repeated," said the officer. During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused, coming from middle-class families, were not well educated and did not have any regular source of income.
"Raza Ahmad's elder brother, at present in jail, is already facing trial in many fake currency cases. Raza purchases fake Indian currency notes (FICN) from Malda, West Bengal from the contacts provided to him by his brother," said DCP (Outer District) B S Jaiswal.
