The city will host a rare musical fusion concert by five of the greatest musicians of the country

After a successful run last year, the concert is back this year in a grander avtar. The musicians admit that it is not just the music but also the infectious energy level that is the USP. "When you have enthusiastic musicians like Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain on stage, the energy levels hit the sky and the night turns out to be a memorable one," says Selvaganesh, who has been performing with Zakir Hussain for the past two decades.

The competitive factor also comes into play. "On stage, we challenge each other and it brings out the best from us. It helps that we understand each other pretty well," admits U Shrinivas.
One thing that makes these musicians happy is the involvement of youngsters in classical concerts. "It feels good to see so many youngsters taking up music as a profession and actively participating in such concerts," adds Shrinivas.
Each of these musicians have a lot of affection for the city. But drummer Sivamani's connect with the city is thanks to his son studying at Bishop's School and his numerous friends residing in the area. "The audience welcomes all kinds of music, be it Rock, Classical or any other form, which motivates us all the more," he adds. Shrinivas' admiration of Punekaris is because of their musical knowledge and ability to appreciate good music.
But you don't need to be a connoisseur to enjoy the music. "Every human being has a musical rhythm in their body and hence, a concert like this is special," concludes Salvaganesh.u00a0u00a0
