Students of electronics and computer science department of the 125-year-old Fergusson College have a reason to rejoice as the faculties and the students have joined hands to enhance the campus communication system.

Prof J V Khedkar, head of electronics department, said, "We are trying to make the campus techno savvy. Also, as our electronics department is completing 25-years, we would execute many of our plans this year."

According to Prof Khedkar, fiber optic cables have been installed in the entire college campus for faster computer networking. The idea is to connect the 80-acre campus though Internet. "It is one of the key plans, which we want to implement in our 125th year celebrations programme," he said.
Besides, Prof Shubhangi Page, head of the computer department, said, "Our Enterprise Resource Planning, however, is working as a server that connects 15 different departments in the campus.
She added that the server is presently aiding to connect with 150 personal computers in the campus and the network may get further strengthened.
The data for over 6,000 students have been made for different modules. "We have different modules for students and the teaching staff. And the idea behind this is to ensue that the work is done fast and more efficiently," Page added.
