The celebration that started from June 23 and will continue till July 19 will see participation of scores of Oriya and non-Oriya people from across the city and neighbouring areas in several functions that are scheduled for this year.

The festivities started on June 23 with auspicious Deva Sana Purnima -- also known as the bath ceremony of the deities -- in which around 108 pitchers of holy water was used to bathe idols. This ceremony will be held every day for next 15 days inside the Shiv Mandhir, Sector 12. The trust is also trying to promote local talent by the means of cultural programmes, which will start from July 11.
Besides, the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath will be held on July 10 in which the trust expects participation of over 50,000 devotees. The organisers, along with the Kharghar Police, have made all necessary arrangements to ensure that the yatra concludes peacefully.
