The event titled The 24X7 Rockathon, organised by Virgin Mobile, started yesterday at 11 am at Planet M on Brigade Road. The show will continue till May 29, 3 pm.
It will feature 50 music bands from across the country. Yesterday, visual DJ Archana Prasad performed for hearing impaired children of Dr S R Chandrashekar Institute of Speech and Hearing.
The event is promoting their latest offering, vJazz, which lets you download music free for one year from a library of over a lakh compositions.
Pranav of Drones from the Turbine band said, "We are enjoying it as this is hundred hour non-stop music concert happening in Bangalore for the first time. But the crowd is very thin. When more people come to watch, it will be nice."
He attributes the poor turn-out to the lack of awareness about the event.
Rishi Rai of Siver the Band, Pune, who plays the bass guitar, said, "This is a great idea, and a great platform for the bands."
Santosh Ghosh, a music lover, said, "People should gather in large numbers then the performers also will have enthusiasm to perform. I had just come for shopping and after seeing the hoarding I walked in."
M A Madhusudan, Chief Executive Officer, Virgin Mobile India said, "We want the youth to enjoy music non-stop without any limitations."
The mobile major is trying to help the cause of the hearing impaired and pledged to donate Rs 5 for every customer who walks into Planet M during the Rockathon.
The best performing band will be adjudged by the audience at the venue and through
www.rockathon.in poll at the end of the 100 hours of continuous performance. The winner will get a chance to travel to the VFestival in UK.
