Cops arrest last two absconding members of super car thief Manoj Bakkarwala's gang
With the arrest of two criminals on Sunday, the Delhi police have struck the final nail in the coffin of super car thief Manoj Bakkarwala's gang.
On July 14, the police had arrested the kingpin of the carjacking gang, Manoj Bakkarwala, who is said to have stolen around 500 cars in a criminal career spanning 11 years. MiD DAY had on July 16, reported about the arrest of Bakkarwala.
The South district police on Sunday arrested two members of the Bakkarwala gang Surender Bhatt alias Charu, 28, and Rattan Chopra alias Pakistani, 29, from Mahipalpur and Vasant Kunj areas of south Delhi.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Surender from Mahipalpur when he was driving a Honda City car that he had stolen from Greater Kailash in south Delhi.
"Ratan was involved in all the crimes committed by the Bakkarwala gang.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he used to dispose off the stolen cars as directed by Bakkarwala," said a senior police official.
Rattan has also said that he and Manoj had fired at a police party when the cops had laid a trap to arrest them on May 8.
The police will be booking the two under the stringentu00a0 MCOCA Act (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act).
