Floods continued to wreak havoc in Tripura with continued heavy downpour dislodging hundreds of villagers from their houses in low-lying areas.
In Agartala and outskirts, rising waters of the Howragh and Kathakhal rivers swamped large swathes of farmland, submerging homes and disrupting road transport.
About 50,000 people have been forced into relief camps, while hundreds more are wading in water in and around their homes after intense downpour last two days.
"Floodwater entered inside our houses and now they are half submerged in water. As a result, we are forced to leave our house and take shelter in this temple," said Bapi, a flood victim.
The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre on Tuesday said that heavy rainfall would continue over the region for 24 hours.
Until this cloudburst, Tripura had meagre rainfall and the entire region was apprehending a drought-like situation. And the sudden flash floods have complicated the miseries of the people.
