Doctors in the city have named the latest skin rejuvenation technique, Stimulated Self Serum skin therapy, after one of the most popular vampires of all times and it is already quite a rage among women.

u00a0The therapy was introduced for the first time in the United Kingdom by London-based French cosmetic doctor, Daniel Sister. "The basic idea is that a doctor draws four vials of the patient's own blood from the arms, separates it into red blood cells, clear serum and platelets. The serum is then enriched with vitamins and amino acids and injected into the face," said Dr D S Tulla, consultant, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, BL Kapoor Super-Speciality Hospital.

Cost factor
A single sitting for the therapy costs around Rs 25,000. At least three sittings are required to complete the procedure. "It would be wrong to say it's a trend just in the West. In urban India as well, people have become aware of anti-ageing therapies. Eight people have consulted us for the Dracula therapy in the last three months," added Dr Tulla.

Patients also seem to be excited about the procedure. "I was a little apprehensive about the therapy. But I liked the idea and after the procedure, my skin looks fresh and new," said Jijji (39), a marketing professional.

Precautions
Some precautions are needed with the technique that is touted to be the Generation Next of plastic surgery, say experts. People should check the clinics is certified and has a hygienic laboratory. The laboratory should have sterile and aseptic conditions, a licensed blood bank for preparing the serum, and the surgeons performing the technique should also be certified.
