Members of BJP leader Gopinath Munde's camp were also present at the event. "Having ideological differences does not amount to factionalism," said Gadkari. "This hospital is a perfect example of united effort by local leaders of all political parties. The inability to provide selfless social service to the people has been our biggest failure, which we should now make up for."
The hospital's new wing is now equipped with the latest medical facilities at very cheap rates. The total capacity of the hospital has been increased to 450 beds along with digital X-Ray, CCTV cameras, provision for oxygen and compressed air in all wards and two power generators. The civic body has spent around Rs 55 crore for the refurbishment and overhaul of the hospital.
Gadkari appreciated the civic body for its speedy completion of the new building and appealed to charitable trusts to donate generously for the hospital. "The city should now become the hub for cheap medical treatment just like education. The PMC should now run the hospital with utmost efficiency and dedication," said Gadkari.u00a0Deputy Mayor Prasanna Jagtap, BJP MLA Girish Bapat and Madhuri Misal, NCP leader Ankush Kakde, Congress leader Ulhas Pawar and PMC Standing Committee Chairman Ganesh Bidkar were also present.
