This Parisian trio with an emotional connect with Bangalore are all ready to rock the city again. Post the Habba, they perform again tonight

A piano, electric bass guitar and drum emanating the sound of classical, hip-hop, rock, and jazz all at once. Sounds impossible? Not really. The Sharik Hasan Trio from Paris is here to give the city a blend of music from Indian and western classical to pop. These musicians, however, do not believe in categorizing their sound. "We call it music. We play what we enjoy playing," says Sharik, who plays the piano for the band. "We don't want to capitalize on a particular sound."

Gael Petrina, the bass guitarist and Thibault Perriard, the drummer, are the other two members of this band. The group will be playing their original compositions as well and some standard jazz numbers for this concert.u00a0 In 2008, a common musical vision brought these three musicians together in Paris.

Born in 1984, Sharik Hasan spent his childhood shuttling between Bangalore and Boston. He has studied in places like the Royal School of Music, London and Trinity School of Music, Cambridge. At present he is based in Paris and divides his time performing in France and India.

Gael Petrina from the United States picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and since then has been involved as a stage musician with The Kandinsky Effect, The Sharik Hasan Trio, The Emerflies Quartet, The Caroline Porta Quartet, The Horn Project, Valerio Big Band, and as a composer for Sirroco Films, Paris.

Thibault Perriard, the drummer received the CFEM Diploma in classical percussion (marimba / drums) from Conservatoire de Fontainebleau in May 2000. He has shared the stage with Magic Malik, Marc Ducret, Fru00e9du00e9ric Favarel, Cugny Laurent, Hervu00e9 Sellin, Pierre-Olivier Gauvin, The Bloomdadies and others.

In 2008, a common musical vision brought these three musicians together in Paris. "We share certain familiar traits. As musicians we share the common instinct of listening and reacting," says Sharik. "Our music is spontaneous and we will play the sound we have enjoyed listening to in our growing years."

Muthukumar, a tabla player from Bangalore will also be accompanying the trio to lend the recital an Indian touch. Muthukumar previously has played with the likes of Allahrakha and Zakir Hussain.
