GRP constable loses arm in train accident

A Government Railway Police (GRP) constable lost his right hand yesterday, in what is being described as a freak accident.


Sawant, attached to the Dadar GRP was travelling home at 9.30 pm when the accident occurred in which he lost his hand. The exact details of the incident have yet to be determined. However, GRP sources claim that Sawant, who was travelling by train, might have hit his hand against the pole.

After the accident, he was rushed to Sion Hospital for treatment and at the time of press was recuperating from the mishap. This is the second accident in two days involving a GRP official. On Monday night, another constable attached to Andheri GRP died after he was wedged in between a JCB and a structure.
